FYI...........my sister-in-law has not had a period in over a year thinking she could not get preg. b/c that must mean that she is not ovulating was wrong. She just found out that she is 4 months preg. So don't think that if you are not being visited by your monthly friend that you will not become preg.

You are fertile for a window of time around ovulation. Too early and the sperm will die before the egg is released. Too late and the egg will die. The trick is actually KNOWING when you ovulate; if you don't know then almost any time in your cycle can be potentially risky.

If you are trying to conceive and you want to know when your fertile window is, read "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler.

No, the only time to get pregnant is when you ovulate. However, the sex you had before you ovulate can cause you to get pregnant. Sperm can last up to 5 days in the womans body. So, if you have sex five days before you ovulate, you can get pregnant.

No, pregnancy can only happen when sperm fertilize the egg. Now, sperm can live in the right conditions up to 72 hours.
