To be the highest grossing, it would have to be recent, since ticket prices are now about four times what they were in the day of Star Wars, so you only have to sell one fourth the number of tickets to match the gross.

I'll say... Pirates of the Caribbean just because there are a lot of fangirls here on this site. And at the newly inflated ticket prices, it could make more than Titanic made the same way.
