Gargle with salt water, being sure to spit it out, do NOT swallow it. Best all around remedy for simple sore throat related to allergies, smoking too much and other minor irritants.
Herbal spray... echinacea, golden seal and bee propolis will help if you can stand the taste and will help heal it as well. Note that some people can be sensitive to the herbs so be careful if you have sever allergies.
Chloraseptic spray will deaden it, but not fix it.
Be sure what is causing it though. Strep, yeast and several other things can require medication to heal properly and not develop into worse conditions. If it lingers for more than a day or two, or worsens, see your doctor.

Throat spray to numb the pain. Also eat lots of things with vitamin C and iron. Those are both really good for sore throats. Don't drink anything cold. Keep your mouth clean.

First gargling w/ sea salt water (crystals @ store) don't gulp the actually ocean water. Then rinse and swallow with colloidal silver or gold. Then some pure lemon juice in water. After all that , good old acidophillus pills opened- keep them in mouth and throat over night. Nothing can beat that regimen, not even a severe staff infection.

Silver colloid is great, and something you can make for yourself much cheaper than buying. Also gargling with iodine could be helpful. Vitamin C can help. If this is recurrent, it would be good to find the root of the problem, ie contaminated food or water, meds, or unhealthy diet, or something within yourself affecting your immunity. Gentian violet painted on the throat also worked in Africa especially for Thrush or yeast infection.
