What do you do when you realize you can't stand your best friend?

And don't say "make new friends." She has been my best friend for 10+ years, and I can't just not be her friend. But over the years she has really turned into the dumbest, most annoying, most selfish woman I've ever known. I can't stand the decisions she makes, I can't stand her loser of a boyfriend (cheats on her, in and out of jail for robery), I can't stand her taste in food, movies, humor, friends, EVERYTHING. The only time we have fun and get along is when we're being nostalgic and watching our old favorite movies or hanging out with our old group of friends.
It didn't always used to be this way. But she's turned into such a ridiculous person.

talk to her about how she has been acting and see if she understands. remind her all the good times u had before this epidemic accured. Try to work with her. I knw this is hard for u ad i wish u the best of luck.

i think you need to tell her that you are sorry but the choices she is makin and the way she is acting is not what you want to b around! tell her you guys have been friends for a long time and you guys have had some fun times but you guys have grown apart and are totaly different from each other! tell her you guys are goin in different directions and it is time you go your different directions but if she is ever in serious trouble then she should no that you will be there for her you just don't to hang out with her on a regular bases! tell her youiare sorry but that is how it has to be!

I don't know what the answer is, I'm in the EXACT situation now with my best friend of 12 years. It sucks! I realize now that we have absolutely NOTHING in common. I don't know if every girl goes through this or not. Every single thing you said about your friend I can say about mine. I think our friendship is over. We haven't hung out in about 3 months, I'm just done. It sucks, but there's nothing I can do about it.
