There's nothing to feel guilty about if it's time for you to move on. Give them your two weeks notice and go on with your life. If you're feeling extremely generous give them 3-4 weeks notice. Two weeks is pretty much the standard and higly considerate.

Tell them why you want to resign (better word than quit) and that you know it may cause a problem since they are understaffed. Ask them for ideas how they want to make the transition easier.

And think about the reasons they are understaffed. Could be an opportunity.

I would wonder why you want to quit. Are you overworked? If so then ask for a raise. A lengthy employ is good for buying things like a car and a house.

If you want to quit be sure and take your vacation time first (to look for other work) and get them to hire a temp for a time, then allow a month or so and then put in your 2 weeks notice but only after you have another job lined up.

Give a minimum 2 wks notice. That should give your employer an opportunity to find someone, that you can train.
That is the norm. If you're able, give your employer more than 2 wks. If you have a better job, no one fault you for leaving.
Be sure to leave on good terms.

Don't feel guilty if the company you're working with will lose people. Its not your problem to find a replacement. If you are not happy with your work then leave. And oh yeah... 2 weeks notice would be nice.

Very common! Give a two week notice! If you want to be nice and really don't want to put your employer out give them a 30 day notice, that will give them time to find your replacement and give you a few weeks to train them.

Best thing to do is give them a 2 week notice so they have time to replace you and let them know that you hate to leave but you have too. Good luck!!
