I've always found it surprising that the degree of racism and discrimination among those who suffer from racism and discrimination themselves is so high.

For example, Asian people in Toronto talk ugly things of Jamaicans. The Greek minority in Kuwait hated the Blacks coming from Africa, the Koreans working in Hong Kong despised the Filipinos who were for the most part doing menial jobs, in the USA many Hispanics hate Blacks and vice versa, etc.

I just don't get it (btw, I'm *very* mixed, a mutt, some would say).

This question causes memories to become as vivid as the clearness of the day. Speaking honestly, they believe the other ethnic groups are keeping them down.

I don't get it either. I'll have to admit to being anything but mixed, I even had ancestors in the Mayflower! However, I worked in a very gender neutral and race neutral environment for over 20 years and from personal experience learned that it doesn't matter the race, gender, or whatever... we are all the same with the same dreams, hopes, and fears. For some reason many people seem to have a need to feel superior to others. Why is that? Is it because inside they truly feel inferior themselves?

Its a failing of human beings, not just ethnic groups, which may find its roots in our primate roots.

Maybe that's the only way to feel superior, or at least not inferior all the time.

Just what they learn from their parents I suppose. It's wrong, but, in a way, they don't know any better.
