Usually they will charge more if your hair is really long, longer then the average "long" hair style. Also if you got more then one color put in your hair then they will charge you for that as well!

You need to report them to the state board...then run an ad in the local paper and pitch a real *****. But yes they can do it, you need to tell them you were quoted a different price and that is all that you will pay. $165.00 for highlights??? What did they use, gold???? Did you get a weave? or pulled thru a cap? How many hours, how many stylists work on your hair? Next time try a beauty school, the students work under the direct supervision of their instructor and the prices are great. The prices are usually about 1/2 what you would pay in a salon. I got extensions, (great lengths) and it was only $135.00 and in a salon it would have been over $300.00. The hair was separate, but I love the look and they are staying in).

As far as highlights, Feria has a kit that not only colors, but highlights as well, for about $20.00, so what if you have long hair, it might take 2 kits, but that is still way under $165.00!!!! Good luck hon.

Yes.

Always go in to the salon for a consultation first so the stylist can see the length, texture, thickness and health of your hair and so you can discuss exactly what you want done. If you have very thick and long hair it will cost more. If you want a full head of highlights, more than one color of highlights done, or very thin, complicated highlights, it will cost more. The time it takes factors in too.

I've paid everywhere from 230$ to have my hair brought back from black to light red with blonde to 150$ for crappy, messy highlights (and she was charging 140$ to touch up the roots! what a scam!) 75$ to go platinum (I'm platinum now, and she touches up the roots for 50$ which is an amazing deal, and I only get because I refer tons of people to here).

ALWAYS talk to the stylist. The receptionists dont know. The stylist set the prices.

Sorry you got a bigger bill than you expected. Better luck next time!

First, you should confirm the price at the salon before getting the treatment done. If the price is different from what you were told then you should ask why. They probably did a lot of additional things, such as a haircut, wash, etc. Maybe you opted for a more extensive highlight than the $70 version.

If they did that it is very wrong. I am not sure you have any legal claim unless you have some sort of proof. The best revenge would be for you to tell your friends, who will tell their friends, and so on, about what occurred. If enough women know about the situation the salon will eventually be hurt because nobody will want to get their hair done at a place that is dishonest and rips off hardworking customers.

You should've begged to differ. Keep the reciept, call back and ask again but don't forget to ask her name. That is all the proof you need. You did it the right way by letting them know you had long hair though. Good luck.

Iono how much hair do you have??? how much highlight went in to it? But yes they could do that but they shouldn't tell people it is $70 if its not for everybody. But did you have an appointment?? you have to add things like that to it. Like how much highlight did they have to use?? The washing and sampooing of your hair??

they've done that to me before too!

I think they add in shampoo, blow dry, cut, special master color specialist grand poo-ba, a fee for sitting in the hair-cutting chair, rental fee for that apron they put over you, plus they probably charge you for every strip of aluminum foil they put in your hair......

ching-ching

your total is $165!

I'm never going to a salon to dye my hair again.

I'm gonna do it at home from now on, until the end of time.

damn liars!

I hate them.

Anybody can walk in and complain about the cost of a treatment or product, then say "Well, I called and someone told me it was half as much." You really don't have an argument here.
