On serious questions, ive read how people answered that the asker should kill themselves or f*** themselves. Why are some people so mean? It was a serious question!

People think that just because they are online they don't have to be accountable for their actions. I don't believe in charma but I do believe that you reap what you plant . So I have full faith that they will get what they deserve.

Good question, I think it's totally wrong to receive those types of answers on serious questions. These people asking really need some support and may not have anyone else to ask at the time.
There is has and always will be some of these type of people around that have no compassion for others. They must have low self esteem, hatred or just missing two sandwiches of a picnic.
On some kind of drug maybe.

If it WAS a serious question... I highly doubt that anyone in that frame of mind actually intending to kill themselves would occupy themselves with Yahoo questions and answers unless they are like GG Allen and actually planned their own death completely void of all emotions on the subject because he was too high to be able to care! Either way... I think people are stupid for posting fake questions along those lines. Psychologically, someone would have had to actually BE in that state to know how a person reacts who actually means to kill themselves. Most of these people actually just spit the most dramatic thing out there that they can to cause riots and to get all the attention they can glean from such a situation. AND... If they do get called on it, they report you. Stupid deserves HARSH!

I think that when you take the time to listen to people's opinion, like you do here, you will notice that people's temperments and attitudes are harsher these days because Society's climate is very harsh right now. People are unhappy right now, overworked and over stressed with very little return. Popular culture is now a very violent culture, and this in turn affects our social climate. We solve problems with bombs and violence, so it only makes sense that as people in this society, we react in a similar level, on a much smaller scale. Dont let them bring you down, stay positive.

Good Question. I was actually reading a plethera of answers regarding a question on parenting and I was deeply offended myself on the rudeness and harsh tone of the answers above mine. It was upsetting. (What was even more upsetting is after one individual chose to chew out a parent, they then had the nerve to say "God Bless You", but dont get me started on that).

I think like the other person said, it has some to do with anonimity, because if they though you knew who they were, they probably would not dare say half the things they do.

Also, I think people that choose to respond harshly to others are most often just people who are trying to make themselves seem better, by putting others down. More often than not, a person will say something like "THAT IS A STUPID QUESTION" or "YOU ARE AN IDIOT TO THINK THAT" when they have a feeling that they don't have a good answer to your question.

In addition to this, I believe, to put it plainly, people just dont have manners and common sense anymore. I see young kids posting their email addresses on here, adults posting answers that YAHOO is BOUND to remove, and day by day, people just don't think before they type. They dont take into consideration, "Gee, If I was having problems understanding my math homework, would I want to hear someone tell me I am "stupid" ?" or "If my child was 7 and still wetting the bed, would I want someone to tell me I am a bad parent when I am seeking help?" The answer is no, for any of us.

It's like mama said - "If you ain't got nothin' nice to say, keep your mouth shut!"

If we all took into consideration the feelings of others, and thought before we post, we would find this is a much nicer community to be a part of. Unfortunately, to alot of people this is inconceivable (WHAT??? They want us to THINK OF OTHER PEOPLE before we post!?! Thats Preposterous!!!).

I would just advise others to think about the Golden Rule before every post you make:

"Do Unto Others As You Would Have Them Do Unto You"

In laymans' terms; If it's not something you'd like to hear, than it's probably something you should not post!

Some of the people on here are children, off for the summer, with very little parental guidance, or supervision.
They feel important when they post the way they hear adults around them speak.
They feel self important on here with no consequences.
I can only hope the great majority of them will smarten up someday...

the same reason why a teenager will go get tattooed and pierced and come home and say Boo-Ya! to his/her parents. They want to shock you and make you mad, for fun. Lots of people are this way. I can play along and laugh, but preferr to treat serious questions seriously. I am an adult, a good portion of those you're referring to aren't.

Anonimity seems to be their excuse to vent anger, its easier to be rude to some one you cant see or dont know. And some questions, I'm sorry if they are so serious then you need to get help profetionaly instead of asking a lot of strangers especialy if you thinking of killing yourself no one will take you seriously and will not answer seriously.

Becayse it kinda depends what sort of questions you ask.Other times people just think they are smarter than everyone.
Other people think they can be mean because the asker is not going to do anything!(since they are on intenet)

They're don't care about others and their problems. They're here just for getting points by typing s.th and mocking instead of giving real answers. You're right.I think there should be s.one here to subtract scores for giving these stupid answers.
