As early as 16 weeks, but most doctors won't give you an ultrasound until between 18-20 weeks at the earliest because that is when your babies bones are mature enough to get the information that you actually go into the ultrasound for. I remember being so excited for my ultrasound that I went in at exactly 18 weeks even though they warned me to wait until 20 weeks. I would go again at 18 weeks though because if they don't get what they need they just send you in for another one and the waiting is horrible. Good luck and enjoy the ultrasound, it's a lot of fun and very exciting! Only about 6 weeks to go.

As early as 12-14 weeks sometimes if baby is a boy with very obvious genitals, but really 18-20 weeks is a much more accurate read.

Usually they do the ultrasound at 4 months, and then again at 5 if they did not get to see all of the heart chambers etc.

Routine fetal ultrasounds are typically done between 18 and 20 weeks, when many anatomic details are visible.

you usually find out during your 20 wk ultrasound.
that ultrasound is where they look at everything and measure bones and brain and stomach etc....
you can sometimes tell sooner than that, but typically, they wait until the 20 wk ultrasound.
so, you only have a little bit of waiting to do..hang in there!
take care.
