He might have logged in under an identity you don't know about, and told 'Tom' that your profile was in violation of some MySpace rule (such as being under 14 years old). Then MySpace might have deleted your profile.

Well if you do it without logging in it's because someone reported the myspace for inappropriate content...so check with myspace about it

I don't think you can do it without logging in, you have to verify that you really want to delete your account. Check Tom's FAQ.

nah, just wait and try to log in again tomorrow, mine said it had been deleted for a few days too...but then suddenly everything went back to normal

Either they logged in and ended it, or they reported you for a bogus reason that worked.
Chances are, they found your password and logged on.
