I've been working on a 1993 Plymouth Acclaim as a demo car for the derby this saturday. It ran when i started a few weeks ago. Monday everything was hooked up inside the car (battery & gas tank, etc..) and it would start for a second and die right away. I thought maybe the gas was bad, so I switched and the car did the same thing. The next morning I couldn't even get a click out of the starter, but there was power going to it, and I tried several different batteries. Any ideas on how to fix it? My friend mentioned something about safety switches??

If your fuel cell is completely sealed it will cause a negative pressure and the gas cannot get out. Cell must be able to draw air in to avoid this.

True, some vehicles have a fuel shutoff switch, usually in the trunk. Ford does this, not sure about Plymouth. If you were pounding on the car or jarring it heavily while preparing it for the derby it may have tripped. On a Ford the starter will still engage however, which it doesn't sound like is happening for you. Starter could be stuck as well, rap on it with a hammer and try turning it over again. Otherwise I would check wiring to the the starter.

there might be a safety switch triggered to the trunk. Happened to my buddies demo car 2 yrs ago. Took him a while to figure it out.

Go rent a car and take the damage insurance.

Problem solved.
