this morning my girlfriend went to obtain her license, when she got there she aced the written test. She heard about a very rude man that works there that discriminates on peoples age with the actual driving test. She has heard this from friends. My girlfriend is a younger woman (18) When he got in the car with her he immidiately started to give her a rude and unecessary attitude towards her due to a small crack in the windsheild of her car. at the end of the test he failed her saying that she failed to put her blinker on to make a right turn at 100 feet away, even though he told her to turn at the very last minute. He was extremely mean to her and even yelled at her. She even told me before he took her that the guy before her failed and he was laughing about failing the guy. From what she has also heard, she is not the only one this has happened to. She came home literally in tears, not so much that she couldnt get her license, but because of how mean he was to her.

There is recourse. Does your girlfriend remember his name? If so (and even if she doesn't), she can call the DMV, ask to speak with a supervisor, and report the behavior (if she doesn't have the name, they should have a record of when her driving test was and which instructor was conducting the test). She can get the number for the state DMV office, speak with a supervisor there, and also put hot water on this guy to get fired. She can write a letter to the editor of your local paper. And finally, she could go back down to the office, request a retest based on bias of the previous instructor, and ask for a different instructor on her next test. The important thing is to notify someone above this guy that he is behaving inappropriately on the job, and to keep applying pressure on his bosses to achieve disciplinary action. I would think that is it would not be hard to get some pressure put on him so that he will change his attitude.

Unfortunately we live in a discriminating world still, whether people instantly judge based on age, race, or gender. If I were you, I'd call the DMV location and ask who the manager/supervisor is and if they are there, request to meet with the supervisor on a certain day & time. When you go, go with your girlfriend and be sure to dress well (you know, jeans and a polo shirt or similar). Same goes for her. Tell the supervisor about the incident and highlight the part where the tester was laughing about the man he failed before your GF (that's unprofessional and unacceptable). Explain you understand they are doing an important job in making sure only good drivers obtain a license, but you feel the judgement done on your girlfriend was biased and uncalled for. Tell him you want him to look into the tester in question and also would like your girlfriend to be tested again by someone else because you feel she is more competent than many drivers you see on the road with licenses.

Yes, file a complaint. Or better yet, you and your girlfriend call and find out who the supervisor is and try to arrange a meeting with him/her. If enough people complain about this as*hole, then eventually they will have to do something. Another idea is to contact your local news station. Maybe if they investigate it, or even threaten to investigate it, some changes will be made. Your girlfriend has the right to take the driving test with someone fair and impartial. Good luck.

As opposed to what? A GOOD DMV employee?? Yeah right!! You obviously must be young also. I think they hire them on the basis of rude sh1tty attitudes. Suck it up, go to a different one next time. They aren't going to listen to someone complaining after they failed their test, they will just think you guys are trying to be vindictive. On top of that being so young they wouldn't give her the time of day. They have ALL the power.

You should definitely complain! One thing these government agency employees have to learn is that they are earning their living by getting paid with taxpayers money. That means they have to respect everyone and not go on a power trip.
