Not all glory dies.Case in point is George Patton and George Custer. But the normal persons, it does fade in time. You need to ask yourself, "what price glory. Regular soldiers never give it a single thought.

Why do you even ask that question? Everything fades, does that mean we should do nothing? Its like asking, why breathe when we are going to die anyway? Why build anything when in the end, it will all be destroyed?

Its not just the destination that matters, man. Its the journey that counts even more. If we focus on the end, there's nothing there.

Everything ends, ultimately; The power, the glory, everything...
But it would be a mighty good feeling before we die, to be able to look back and see how long the road we have traveled, how much we have accomplished, how many people we have helped and how many of life's great battles we've won. To be able to say, "I've been there many times" would be far better-off than saying "I've spent my life doing nothing and I have accomplished nothing in life worth mentioning".

Indeed. Glory is not a good reason to fight. Self-defense is the only good reason to fight, and then only enough to subdue your agressor.
