since it is poor people fighting this war, I guess they consider military spending to be welfare spending!

A.Marie needs some help with math...it isn't 2 % of your check, it's 2 % of the budget.
Hey screwed, aren't medicaid medicare and social security paid DIRECTLY by our payroll taxes? I don't think that is part of the budget, it is paid directly by the tax payers.

See - liberals try to make everything sound so inconsequential - that it doesn't matter if we throw a couple hundred billion dollars a year on wasteful programs - because liberals believe that the tax money should not be ours to begin with - that the government deserves to have our money, and that they will decide how it is spent. Liberals don't care how much things cost - they are able to minimize American tax dollars into a little thing like 2% - we shouldn't worry about that, because the money shouldn't end up in our hands anyway, it really belongs to government.

Military is a sound investment for our country, it protects our freedom and security.

Here are some real numbers. Even leaving out International, it's 923 B which is almost as much as the military. Of course the corp of engineers does a lot of civilian work, so it's not all guns and tanks.

Department of Health and Human Services ... ... 403 B
Department of Housing and Urban Development 414 B .
International Assistance Programs .... .... .... .... 523 B
Social Security Administration ..... .... .... .... .... ...106 B (and that doesn't include the checks that goes out)

TOTAL ................................................................ 1446 B

Department of Defense-Military 726 B
Corps of Engineers ----------------187 B
Other Defense—Civil Programs 102 B

TOTAL --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- 1015 B

Get your facts straight

What percentage would you spend on the Safety of America if you were president? I'd rather they take the 2% and teach the poor than to just give them free stuff. Give a man a fish, he eats for a day, teach a man to fish, he eats for a lifetime.

Thats probably because any military operation costs millions every day so the Iraq has been very costly.

2% of our budget!!! THAT IS MASSIVE AMOUNT OF MONEY GIVEN TO PEOPLE NOT WORKING!!!

Without our military budge where it is, you would be typing this in a different language.
