I heard many Blacks even Indians who served in Confederate military many said it was not an issue of slavery but that you can still hate slavery and remain loyal to one's nation. Are there any Blacks who are respect the Confederates or have a relative who fought with the Confederates?

My Great Grand Daddy did an his father did to I think. My Grandfathers were freed blacks but remianed in the South because it was our home and Southerns are always loyal. Many of their friends were in fact white and treated them no different than the other soldiers. Down South respect and Loyalty to one's nation is important. Did you know Jefferson Davis was going to free the slaves before Lincoln was, if Britain and France said the Confederates were an independent nation than Davis would free the slaves but both did not reply. All hail Dixie!

They HAD to serve with the Confederates.. their owners said so. Think about it this way. The slave owners forced them to fight with them because if you gave them a gun and said, "Ok go out there and kill some Northerners", guess who they're gonna shoot? No Northerners... they're gonna shoot the slave owners and run like hell.
