I'm sure this will sound silly to those of you who have been working and raising kids for years, but up to this point I have been a full time parent and have not had to work.

I need to get a part time job when school starts to supplement my husband's income and I have no idea how to deal with school vacations/holidays/etc.

My daughter is 6 years old and will be in 1st grade. How do I work around her school schedule? HELP!!!!!!!!

If you know any elderly women, one of them might watch your daughter on those type of days and they are usually pretty cheap they like the company. I did this with one of my neighbors and it has worked out wonderfully, my kids has another granny. You could also maybe look at some of the local teens they are also out of school on those days and would like the extra money. You may also check with any friends that doesn't work and is a stay at home and see if she would be interested in making a couple extra dollars on those days, her kids will be home to. Good luck with finding the solution that is right for you.

With a computer at home and internet connection, you can start earning from home, without any investment. You should choose your work at home job according to your skills and time available.
The simplest work at home job is answering phone calls for companies like WorkathomeAgent, Alpine Access, Liveops. You will need a quiet enviroment at home without any disturbance. To apply you will have to complete an online application form on the companies website . A list of companies with websites is available at

find a teenager in the same district who will have the same days off who can babysit for her. Rent them a few movies, get some snacks and lunch for them - I bet they'll have a blast.

Or, make it a point to negotiate into your new contract that you can take off those days (you should know ahead of time what days she'll have off, right?). If you find the right company, they should be understanding.

if the school gives a calendar of the days they will be off for holidays/professional days, you will have time to make sure you get those days off. they usually give the calendars out at the beginning of school in my town, but you can always go to her school's office and ask for one.

Try a home based business where you can make your own schedule & bring home some extra money. I love mine :-)

You can hire a babysitter for only that day. Or leave her with family members, who do not work.
