I was driving my car and started hearing a clicking noise. I noticed when I hit the excellerator it got worse when i took my foot off it went away. I got to the nearest red light when it died out. It started steaming pretty bad. Well after the cop pulled up he had me go get a bucket of water from gas station and pour it in. that made steam come out worse. The cop told me try to start the car again I did and he said it has no compression. My husband finally got there and saw that a hose blew. He said it must have overheated and no light showed me and that hose blew. Does anyone have any ideas what it could be?

it could be several things either you got it so hot it seized the rings you warped the head and dropped a valve or you could have cracked the block if it makes a funny grinding noise when you try to start it you more than likely seized the rings up in it and that will not be cheap to repair if it is a aluminum block and it got that hot you are probably going to need a new engine (sorry to say that) but you want the truth right

You didn't see the light for it because it's likely a fuse has blown, causing the light not to show.

Have all your fuses checked and have them replaced if needed.

As for your engine, the radiator overheated and blew a hose.....you need a new hose and add some antifreeze and water added to the radiator.

Also check the radiator and the engine to see if it's damaged.

You may have cracked a head on the engine and the radiator may need to be replaced......it can be a very expensive affair.

You could have had a blocked pipe in the expansion tank over flow pipe.it is a small hole about 3mm dia, if this is block it will biuld up back presure, thus causing heater pipe to expand and busrst, failing that if you have a cream mixture on you dip stick then you have blow a head gasket.

Overheating could have caused internal engine damage. Don't worry what the cop said, is he a mechanic? NO. Get the cooling system repaired and tested.

You now have busted cylinder head gaskets or cylinder heads. If an engine is out of water the temperature guage might not show it's hot.

You probably blew a head gasket or spun a bearing. Either of which will be expensive.
