The only movie I saw that was better than the book was Contact. The book just went on and on, and wasn't nearly as inspiring as the movie. Do you have a different one?

There are some choices here where I havn't either read the book, or watched the movie, so maybe I will need to do that.

I hadn't thought about Jurassic Park or Bourne Identity. Both of those movies are at least as good as the book, if not better. Thanks guys and gals!

yes. it took me a second to think of it, but the 90's film FRANKENSTEIN with robert de niro as the monster was really great. it was a ton better than the book. i was so bored by that book, it's confusing and not the least bit scary. the frankenstein film is faithful, mostly, to the book , and adds interesting spins on parts of the original plot.

a movie being better than the book is a rare thing, but Frankenstein is definitley an exception

There is no movie that is better than the book. The movie tend to miss out a lot of details that a book would have.

I don't necessarily know if the movie was better than the book, but I saw Cujo so many times before I tried to read the book that I couldn't finish it. Which reminds me, yes, Firestarter was better as a movie than a book...could barely finish reading that one.

I can't think of a particular movie, but I know that the Broadway production of Wicked is better than the book it was based on. However, I can safely say that the vast majority of books are better than the movies based off of them.

yeah, any of the harry pothead movies.....the movies stayed so close in detail to the books that i opted for watching over reading because of the length of time it took to finish the books...plus they were soooo good and i didnt have a whole lot of time so the movies just wrapped it up for me....most of rowlings text is descriptive anyways
