I still break out at age 30 - mainly caused by stress (which isn't helped by the fact that I then start worrying about breaking out - see definition of "cycle"). I'm a "regular joe" type guy, so I'm just looking for something simple with my INCREDIBLY sensitive skin. Does anyone have any advice they can offer?

Thanks in advance for your thought-out suggestions...

Hi! I'm 31 and my husband is 30 :) Clinique has a good men's line of 3 steps. Very simple, wash, tone, moisturize. If you're at the mall on a Tuesday morning nobody will ever see you but your Clinique girl, and she'll also set you up with some EVER so sexy smelling "Chemistry" which is an AMAZING fragrance for men.

One more thing, make sure you drink enough water every day. That does miracles for the complexion.

The problem is that usually the ingredients of the acne control usually are formulatted with benzoyl peroxide(this ingredient is very strong and it overdries your skin) and other ingredients and chemicals that are too strong for your skin. When using acne products look for salycilic acid instead, this is powerful and will not overdry your skin but will control the acne. also bathing daily cleanses the skin, but it also can dry it out, causing it to look dull, but most importantly, it may cause irritation and remove the natural emolients your body produces to keep it healthy. When you bathe, always use a moisture-rich cleanser, and always pamper your skin with a daily moisturizer.I had been struglling with acne for about 9 years so i can tell you a thing or 2 about acne, Remember that everybody has different reactions to treatments and i have tried everything (even proactive) , the one i tried and thank God i found it because it is the only thing that has worked for me and it has cleared my face and that is amazing. The important thing is to use botanically based products and i found them in Arbonne. I use them because they are formulatted without mineral oil and without animal products. Mineral oil is the 2nd worse thing for the health of your skin the 1st thing would be the sun. Animal products come from Rendering Plants and they pick dead animals and they put it in a huge pot and smash everything down and boil it and the oil that comes up is what other companies use to formulate their makeup (eww the lipsticks), gross i know) and skin care products. I found this site and it has helped my family and my friends. They have a variety of products for everybody..... try it, you have nothing to loose, only acne;) they are calle Clear Advantage and they are not pricey also they have a 45 day money back guarantee....even if the product is finished so there you go,!!! http://arbonnepuertorico.myarbonne.com and go under shop online, they are not sold in stores but they are just amazing.... also remember these facts...
• Peak acne years are 14–17 in females and 16–19 in males. As many as 40% of females and 35% of males are affected during these years.
• Keep your hands to yourself … touching skin encourages the spread of bacteria and excess oils, leading to breakouts.
• Excessive cleansing and scrubbing can make acne worse.

If you're concerned about cycles, don't worry. A man's cycle of testosterone lasts a day, not a month. If you just mean the cycle of worry, you can stop. I also had acne at 30. I tried it all before, and some of it works (proactiv) for a while, but it comes back. I tried Accutane, and medicine for the internal workings of the body, and it worked. Your problem isn't one of a topical (outside of the body) nature, you need to get it from the inside. Good luck.

the main reason you break out is bacteria. A really good anti bacterial soap for sensitive skin is the Cetaphil anti bacterial bar. I use it and it is great. It is very gentle and has almost no scent. It also has helped with my ingrown hairs after shaving. Also exfoliate really well. It gets rid of the dead skin cells that can block the pores. I just turned 34 today. I am always being told how good my skin is.

I have acne-plagued and sensitive skin myself, and I'm 33. I went to a dermatologist and the doctor prescribed Klaron for me. It's a liquid gel-that you put on your face after you wash it, and that's it. It's pretty easy to use and works wonderfully on my skin.

I also use a face wash and lotion with alpha-hydroxy in them. That can irritate sensitive skin, and it can also make your skin more sensitive to sunburns, too, but it seems to work alright for me. I use Neutrogena Healthy Skin face lotion with alpha-hydroxy and sunscreen in it, so my face doesn't fry during the day. Added bonus is that it's not in a girly package, and the alpha-hydroxy also helps with wrinkles. You might want to try just that first before resorting to the doctor.

If you have facial hair, or have it in the future, remember to rub the lotion into your beard, too. Even though it's hairy, the skin underneath still needs that stuff, too.

Good luck!

Do you breakout all 4 seasons or just in summer? Here are things you can try:

1. do not touch your face too often (during the day) while your hands may carry bacteria

2. wash face with soap (mild type, the Neutrogena honey type is best) 1-2 times a day

3. use astrigent after

4. apply water-based ONLY facial creme if needed

5. stay away from fried food or junk food

Patchouli!
it is an essential oil that clears the skin!
go to a store that sells candles & incense, that is where you can find the oil
a tiny bit on the pads of your fingers rubbed on the clean broke out surfaces of your skin, you'll heal in no time!
it also calms reddened skin and works better than neosporin for cuts and scrapes!
