The state that Katrina hit...Mississippi....is progressing really well. Some of our casinos are back up and fully operational! We have new buildings going up along the beach again...mind you all the buildings for the entire stretch of the beach along the MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST were LEVELED and turned into nothing but slabs. I've seen lots of cranes up again building and repairing. Condos and apartment buildings are going up. I've seen some houses being made with steel and raised.

Some of the best parts though since the storm...the little things. I loved seeing the roads repaired and then street lights went up. Then they put stop lights up. It's nice to see a little normalcy...coming back :)

Good question!

We haven't had any GOOD news from the hard-hit regions of Hurricane Katrina yet! It's all still bad; people are not settled, devastation is all over. There haven't been any reports on progress with the levees and we're already two months into another hurricane season. As Katrina was a random event, it may be 5-10 years before anything like that happens again.

It will take a long time to rebuild that area. I hope they're doing a good job.

I live in the area...and things are progressing pretty good. Many folks have gutted their homes and are repairing them.

However, there are many who have yet to return and clean their property...and it's starting to become a problem.

Another thing I don't like is New Orleans' leaders keep changing their rebuilding plan when the rest of the region has their plans in place and are implementing them. New Orleans citizens are frustrated at the constant changing leaders are making.

Making things a little rough also is the rash of murders that has happened in recent months. It's almost unreal.

See www.wwltv.com or www.nola.com for the latest rebuilding info.
