most often you do not get ripped off, I buy and sell on eBay.. the thing to do before bidding is to check the sellers feedback profile, and also see how long they have been selling, that will give you a very good indication as to the persons honesty / integrity... if you use pay pal to buy your items you get a guarantee ,since if you do not receive your product you can get your money back, but you have to let them know within a certain period of time, best wishes!

Ebay users can use starting bids and reserves. A reserve is a price that you set to sell the product at. The bidder does not know the price. The product only sells if the bid goes above the reserve price. A starting bid is a amount set to start off the auction. It is set by the seller and can be seen by the bidders.
I uses ebay alot and have never been scammed. You can check the feedback of a seller to see what other customers have thought of their experience with the seller.

In Australia we can not reserve our items, except for cars! So here an item would be sold if they were accepting bids on it. A buy it now (BIN) price means you can just buy it straight away for that price. There are many great deals on EBay. I know I'm a power seller on there.
However, one warning - check the seller's feedback and make sure they have very good references before bidding and buying something expensive ...and...make sure you know how much postage or freight is ..if it doesn't state it in the listing to your area, then email them via the 'ask a question' and find out before you commit to buying the item.
Good luck and enjoy EBaying

most auctions have a reserve. this means that until the bidding reaches that amount, no sale will take place. When you pay for an item, you're usually better off to pay using a service like Paypal, although it's not perfect.
The best way to pay is with a US Postal Money Order. If you get scammed, it is a federal offense.

Could be. The best thing to do is if you see something you are interested in, there are numbers beside the person's name (their feedback rating) Click on it to see what other people that have bought from them have had to say. Be very careful on heavy items though. They may sell it for a bargain price and stick it to you on shipping. If there is no quote for shipping, email them with your zip code. Lastly, make sure you insure your item. They can say they shipped it and you never get or if you buy something such as a tv and it gets broken in shipping and you didn't insure, the seller isn't responsible.

Hope this didn't scare you away from Ebay. I love it and have bought many things and have been completely satisfied. Just be careful.

Hope this helps.

It will depend on if there is any reserve price... if there is no reserve price and it closes at that price, means U win it at that price...

Yup! Its just so simple... Just that whenever U bid, check out the sellers' ratings to make sure...

I bought some stuff on ebay before and got them in great condition and worthed it price...

Yes, they would have a winning bid of $140.00 plus the cost of shipping if applicable. Generally you will have no problems with the purchase - however ALWAYS check the description carefully and should it not be as described you do have recourse.
