Im 16 weeks (four months) and my amniotic sac ripped, i went to the hospital thinking the baby didnt make it but to my suprise he did i was bleeding a lot and lost a lot of fluid. The doctor put me on bed rest for the next 6 months and said my chances of having the baby was about 20% if i rest like i should the bag should be able to heal itself. Has this ever happend to anyone? if so did you lose the baby? and how was the experiece?

Hasn't happened to me personally but I am an OB nurse. Take the doctor's recommendations seriously about bedrest and call immediately if you have any signs of labor or further labor. Consider being admitted to the hospital's antepartum unit (they won't take you generally until 20 weeks) or at-home monitoring (if available in your area - some rural areas may not offer this).

You need to make it to 24 weeks to have any chance at all for the baby's survival and even then baby will probably require many surgeries and a long hospitalization. Each week after that increases baby's chances for survival.

My best friend's sac ripped on her right side when she was 6 months pregnant and now she has a healthy 3 year old. At night she slept on her left side so the fluid wouldn't come out. But she said she leaked during the day. The baby was 3 weeks early but still very healthy. Just stay in bed and don't do anything.

My cousin had a slow leak in hers. It happened around 5 months, and she did deliver early (I want to say at 31-32 weeks). But, her daughter is 3, and even though she was small and has asthma from underdeveloped lungs, she's fine!
Good luck!
