Actually, I've had greater problems in COLD weather than in hot weather.

Unless your car gets well over 100° Celcius (212°F), you won't generate enough pressure in the cans to cause them to rupture.

However, when the water in your soda freezes, it expands, and several times I've had ruptured cans and bottles from frozen sodas.

The high temperature, however, may turn your soda "skunky", especially a diet soda.

I will explode!

The dash temperature (if you measure it) can rise to 198°F on a 100°F day. The temperature on the floor is a little less, but not much.

Many times the cans will expand (pop) outward before they burst - that's nicer than an explosion.

I make a rule NEVER to take or put a sugary soda in a car - it causes too many problems if you spill it while you're driving (or it explodes) - just don't do it... :)

The aluminum cans were designed to be as light as possible for shipping reasons - they never intended that you cook your soda in them, so they deliberately don't make them strong enough to resist the heat.

Yes! We live in Phoenix and my husband left an unopened can of Pepsi in his cup holder. It got hot and exploded! It was horrible getting all the soda out of the headliner. It was left in the car for hours before it exploded though.

Considering the mess you might have if they do blow, I'd say store it somewhere else.

Aluminum cans typically can take quite a bit of pressure, and as long as the pop inside the cans doesn't boil, then the cans should contain it. But maybe not. It depends on how large of a gas void they left in the can.

You should only be concerned if you value the interior of your car. I wouldn't want to have to clean it up.

not unless you want to clean it up, but then it is stored uncooled in hotter climates than yours.
