Is it possible to have too much money?

Depends on the person with the money. If they've got so much that it effects their ability to think straight (unneccessary surgery, having diamonds permenantly wedged into their teeth), then yes. But if they are anything like Bill Gates - then no. After improving your own lifestyle (within the realm of sanity), why not help others?

I think one could have more money then they knew what to do with.

The easiest way to have too much money is to be rich without an heir. If you have children you can't have too much money because you have someone to pass your money on to.

If you are rich without children and you have no want because you already attained all the material possessions that you desired then yeah you have too much money.

Interestingly though the more one can afford the more one usually will buy; which is why some wealthy people will end up with lots of useless junk. Pens that cost more then what some people make in a year, 20 cars and 5 houses.

I certainly think that money can make you happier; but it certainly doesn't lead to happiness. Happiness comes from within.
I don't think there are many new money people out there who also happen to be zen Buddhists.

Yes it is possible for someone to have too much money. But then again if u find out that you have more than you need you can give some to charity or help out some of your friends who are in need and bank the rest so you can never go broke. Or you can invest it .
Honestly i don't think someone can ever have too much money because you will always have a reason to spend it , especially if you got a family.So there fore it is a possibility.But you can never truly tell.

no, not really, because of a truth, there is an awful lot to do with money, so you can never have enough.
but on the other hand, it is possible to hold on to too much money, yes. that is where all the negativities come in.

not in this day and age.. the more the merrier.

but that's my opinion. if i had too much money i'd just sit back and sigh knowing that at least i can keep up with the bills and have a place to live..

then i'd wonder what else i could do with the money to help others or something in that matter that would be beneficial.

of course one has to be careful when it comes to helping others.. all that politics, greed and wastefulness.

Yes.

My reasoning for that is very simple, there is only so much you can buy in a human lifetime that you will use. I mean...personal islands are great...your own plane is nice, but exactly how many items could you use before they just collect dust?

I personally would buy the things I wanted, and buy the things my family wanted...keep enough to pay for the upkeep on those things and taxes, and the rest would go to charity.

The person who supposedly has too much money, will not think he has too much money and thus will try to make more and more money somehow because whatever he has is not enough.
For example, someone who has just won the lottery will invest his or her money in order to gain more.

Yes, if you own more then a pair of pants underwear a couple of shirts and a car you are doing better the 2/3rds of the world that live with making a dollar a day or less for their family's.

Yes, because there comes a point when you have more than you can spend. And at that time you end up giving it away to charities, etc. Hence...having too much money.
