options give you breathing room,
breathing room gives you control,
and control can offer you a measure of happiness.

Some of the worse and depress people in the world are the richest. Many people associate wealth with happiness. This is a myth. Money opens doors of opportunities, yet it doesn't provide happiness. Happiness comes from within. It's an emotion stimulated by the simple things of life: being in an excellent friendship; being in an excellent marriage/gay relationship; knowing that you're children are happy and protected; and being able to find internal peace.

Christina Onassis, along with so many other wealthy established individuals have committed suicide out of loneliness. In her case, she never knew if people loved her for her money or herself. It has been noted that she paid people to befriend her, out of loneliness.

Yes, money provides you with breathing room, and breathing room gives control, and control leads to some degree of happiness; but its always fleeting.

Money and all the things that it buys are temporal---they are destined to pass away. They offer only limited pleasure, and when the thrill is gone, then you need money to buy another thrill. The cycle never ends with possessions, and then there is all that maintenance of items until you tire of them, and all that fear that someone will steal them or damage them, and what to do with them when you tire of them---it is all one big headache that I would prefer to avoid. What you call happiness I call misery. If you have the money to keep this cycle going, then I can promise you that there are people plotting to steal it from you this very minute---and they are willing to kill you for it. Now, if you are poor like me---poor that is as far as wealth is concerned---then no one wants to kill you because you have nothing that they are after---they just to kill me because I am a gospel preacher. Real happines is found in Jesus Christ, in the knowledge that he provides everything that I need and that my salvation is secure in his blood. Money cannot buy this---it is a free gift from God. Jesus loves you.

What it comes down to is that happiness is a choice that can be made regardless of circumstances. True happiness, I believe, comes from having inner peace and contentment with who you are and what you have, not what you can buy and what you can become (i.e. climb the corporate ladder, loose weight, plastic surgery, find love, etc.). Ultimatly, I believe that lasting inner joy comes from having peace with God through Jesus Christ as Savior.

Because happiness is a state of mind that can be chosen whether you have money or not. It is up to you not your finances. Now what about having unending joy, they are two different things.....

control doesnt give everyone happiness..different people have different definitions of happiness. so if being able to buy everything makes you happy, then money CAN buy you happiness. for me, money can't buy you REAL love...cant buy you a REAL family or REAL friends...so its good to have, but can't buy my happiness
