This term applies to the shoulder joint becoming inflamed and a corresponding decrease in range of motion, increased pain, and on-going disability. If left untreated, the joint can become rigid, requiring surgery. An intense course of physical therapy for about 3wks. helped me to overcome this problem. This will not go away by itself, you will need therapy. Frequent exercise is a good way to avoid this problem, so get off the keyboard & move around once in a while.

A real frozen shoulder could last for years and require muscle relaxants and intensive physio. Unlikely to become seriously frozen from computer use but it could start there. if you continually keep your arm outstretched on your mouse try changing hands or at least make sure the arm is supported up to the elbow to prevent a sagging in the shoulder joint, If it hurts when you put your hand across your chest, on top of your opposite (painful) shoulder, and can find the pain pressing one finger in at the back, this is a likely cause, ive had it . Physio will have it right in 2-3 goes
then try to recognise what you are doing on the puter and stop it.

if you are describing numbness with pins & needles in the fingers & a permanant ache in the shoulder that painkillers do not relieve, then yes I've had it. As a plasterer it bothered me from time to time. It can go on for months, I'm sure it is a form of repetitive strain easpecially if its on the mouse arm. I found that an upper body massage by a qualified masseur relieved it for long periods, but I found that it still returned periodically resulting in further treatment. Accupuncture can also be beneficial.

Spookily, I have the same ailment right now. Mine has been coming and going for 10 years and no bloody doctor can find out why. I just pump myself full of painkillers till it subsides. It is usually caused from a strange twist, I picked my baby from the sofa today and that set it off

You may need physiotherapy to make it better. You could also ask your Dr for some Diclofenac sodium tablets which are excellent anti inflammatories and could take the pain away in a week or so.
