Having 504 is impossible.
They come in standard multiples:
64
128
256
512
The only way you could have 504 is if you did what somebody said, and just added bits and pieces you found lying around, or you bought a used computer where somebody did that. If you are comfortable with it, just take the case off the computer, take out the old RAM, and put in one 512 or two 128's.

You already have 512 MB of RAM. Your system uses "shared memory architecture" where some of the main RAM is reserved for the video subsystem -- 8 MB in your case.
If you want to increase the RAM in your computer, check the docs to see what's currently installed and what your options are. NO way to tell from here since you didn't provide any details on your system.

RAM cards come in 2^n sizes, like 32M, 64M, 128M, 256M, 512M, 1G, etc. There is no such thing as a computer with "504 RAM." It might be that your computer has "shared video RAM," and that you're looking only at the RAM that is available to programs on your computer. In that case, you do have 512M RAM, but 8M is being used for video.
Right-click on "My Computer" and select "Properties." Read the RAM number. Be sure to use the 1024 conversion factor if you're converting kilobytes to megabytes. For example, 523,496 kilobytes is 512 megabytes.
If you want to buy more RAM, visit http://www.crucial.com. It's easy to find the RAM that's right for your computer.

You probably already have 512 ram. However, you graphics or disc controller or bios or some other component is using the 'missing' ram for it's own purposes.
If you need to increase your ram, you will need to open the case and see what memory slots you have and how many are available. If you have the owner's manual for the PC and/or motherboard, that information should be contained in it.
Good luck!

you might be sharing your ram with something else.. a program or your video card maybe...
what i would do is first go to the bios to see how much ram my system really has...
the bios should show you the true number..
now if it shows 512 as your ram, then your ram must have been sharing with another program or device..
if it says 504 then you might have a defective RAM.. that happened to me once and i just had my RAM swapped.. i still had warranty...

nothing i guess, coz ram comes in standard sizes and i do not think that getting 8 meg more of ram is going to make much noticable difference and i think that you should have 512 megs of ram but ur computer is showing u less coz it may be shared by some application or for something.

504 is a non-standard size, assuming you are reading it correctly, its likely proprietary and cannot be upgraded.
Otherwise, buy 2 512 sticks, for the price there's no reason not to.
