There is an herbal remedy called evening primrose oil. You can buy it most anywhere and it will not hurt you or the baby . You can even have some fun with it since you won't be having much excitement in the love department for 6 weeks after the baby. You don't need to take this by mouth , it can take days or a week to work if taken orally. They are little capsules that you can pop a little hole in the end of and you need to lather your ( or hubbies ) finger well and rub it on your cervix ( very gently ) . Every couple of hours. Please be very careful not to push hard on your cervix so as not to do any damage. This has worked for me with my 1 child and he was born that same day! My other 3 children did not need the extra nudge to come on out! I wish you the best of luck . I am sure your mind and emotions are racing right now. This is such an exciting and tiring time. Walking does help , but you have to be sure not to do too much walking and wear yourself out, then you would have a miserablle and long delivery because your body would be soooo tired and will not be able to function as optimally as it should .

Hi. I went 3 weeks overdue so don't get too hope full!
What i did was i made a HUGE thanksgiving FEAST!! with all the trimmings you can think of. Then i sang and danced around for a bit with a wooden spoon. (ha ha) Then we ate that and went for a long walk. Then went home and had sex. The next morning 10am i went into labour! Now of course that is a long winded way of doing it but worked for me. Also a friend of mine had some Castor oil, and within 20 Min's was in labour. I tried that and had the runs and puked for about 3 hours, so do it only if you are really desperate!!
Also spicy food, walking and sex are supposed to be good ways of tempting that baby out! So good luck!

There really is nothing that absolutely works every time to start labor, but sex can definitely help the process. The prostaglandins in semen with soften and help efface your cervix. Orgasm can then stimulate mild uterine contractions. Nipple stimulation is not generally recommended, as it can cause strong uterine contraction, inducing fetal distress. This should not be done unless a baby is being monitored. Do not take any herbal remedies or drink mineral or castor oil!!!! You can end up dehydrated, and cause complications for your baby, possibly even death. Good luck. It won't be long now.

Congratulations...for coming so far. All I wanted to to say is why do you want to push yourself into labor, I have done that and it only makes your labor last longer. I had two first babies at 3 hour labor and delivery and the other two which I pushed lasted 17 hours. Just wait and see. I do suggest to be checking on your baby movements daily. Good luck

If the heat isn't bad where you are, go out and walk, walk, walk. I was 4 days overdue with my first pregnancy, and that is what I did. And SEX!! Other than that, I wouldn't do anything that your Dr. wouldn't recommend. Or you can call your Dr. and ask to be induced, but most Dr.'s won't due that until a week or 2 overdue. Good Luck! Congradulations!

Have sex, if you feel like it. Some people say drink a little bit of castor oil... but that can cause really bad diarrhea. Maybe you can try going for a walk. Good luck. I know how you feel to be full term and READY to go... unfortunately baby might have other plans. Best wishes!

If your water is intact and your ob says its ok try having sex--orgasm and the prostoglandulins found in semen both can get things going. Also, nipple stimulation can release oxytocin and bring on contractions. Don't try laxatives or castor oil--it crosses the placenta and can make baby have a bowel movement in utero and this can be very serious.

With my son, I drank 2 cups of raspberry leaf tea, and 30 minutes later I was on my way to the hospital. To make this tea, use the leaves(not berries) of a raspberry bush, steep them in water for about 10 minutes(very low heat), and drink up. It was absolutly the only thing that worked for me, but everyone's different. Best of luck!

Alright....get on your hands and knees(make sure someone is with you) and wash your floors. This is an old family thing passed down.It really did work for me.If nothing else you get really clean floors..lol.Walking is also good, but in this heat,I don't think I'd do that. Please don't try anything like Castor oil.It works but has side effects you don't even want to talk about! CONGRATS!!!♥
