That site can be dangerous. Make your profile private so that only your friends can view it, and even then, don't give out any more revealing information other than maybe your first name. Add only the people you personally know as your friends. Discuss all this with your parents and let them see your page, so that they feel assured that you are safe. MySpace can be fun, and it's a great way to keep in touch with your friends, if it is used properly.

my mom won't either. she said it is dangrous. i had one for a while and fianlly got caught about a month ago. my little brother (who is a year younger than me) has one and hasnt got caught yet. but he changed his name. i still log in as his though just so i can see my friends profiles and he lets my email them from his. anyway the way i didnt get caught was not to type it in on the URL. when u get a message from someone or somthing, go to myspace that way. click on the link and it will take you there. then after your done, go to the thing on the tope of the web page that looks like a clock (the history thing) and right click and erase anything that says myspace. anyway if you do get one just be careful that you parents dont see it. log out every time and everything. well anyways hope i helped. if you didnt understand what i said very well, click on my picture and email me.

You can't because they are right. No loving parent wakes up in the morning planning to have their child raped, murdered, or abducted. Parents try their best to protect their children against the world, and sometimes the only tool that they have to use is the word "NO". Understand that they love you, and work with them.

my parents won't let me either.I tell them that i'll only talk to my friends but no.The best thing to do(that took me a long time to figure out)is just stop asking and wait a while.wait til you're older.that site IS dangerous its called a predator site.

the ppl on here that are saying its dangerous are full of bull. the only reasons kids got raped is cuz they dressed like little sluts and pretend to be older then they really are and went to meet ppl they met online cuz they are stupied. now ppl think its dangerous and its not. its no more dangerous than this site.

it's normal for them to feel this way, depending on your age. how old are you?

show them a fake profile of yourself; promise to never put info about where you live and who you are, that you would never start chatting with someone you don't know, and tell them you are responsible. hope it works out

You cant convince them it not dangerous because it is.My 14 yr old daughter has one and I have all her setting set to private which means I have to approve her friends, comments and messages.Let them know that they can monitor all your activity.

tell them how setting it on private works. if they won't let you then, listen. because then if something bad really does happen, it will be hard for them to support you.
