New Orleans is not in a "county". In Louisiana they call their counties "parishes". New Orleans is in Orleans Parish. However, parts of Louisiana that consider themselves to be a part of the New Orleans Metropolitan area are located in St. Bernard Parish as well as Jefferson Parish.

ETA: Oh, you meant County. I'm so sorry. Louisiana doesn't have counties, they have something similar called parishes. New Orleans is in Orleans parish.
