Dani California by the peppers, and Last Dance with Mary Jane sound waaay to much alike. The Chilli Peppers completely ripped that off. Who else thinks so?
If you dont believe me go listen to both songs NOW !!!
It sounds like the peppers just sped it up. And a slight key change.

I don't know the Peppers song you're talking about but let's just put it this way. It's never gonna be Petty ripping off the Peppers.

I love the Chili Peppers and I highly doubt they would copy Tom Petty, they are totally different kinds of music. I like some of Tom Petty's stuff but not as much as the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I've heard this whole "riped off" music thing b4 and I don't think they did, I think it's just coincidence. My brother is a big Tom Petty fan and when I told him they thought the Chilis copied him, he didn't see the resemblance. I have listened to both of the songs many times and I still don't think they copied. Look why would the Chilis need too, for their new album Stadium Arcadium they had 38 songs finished and ready to put on the album but they cut it down to 28, why would they need to copy someone else's music when they have so much talent to write their own. I think it's just some stupid media story to trash the Chili Peppers. And John Frusciante is such a f*cking awesome guitar player he wouldn't have to copy some other guys stuff.

This is what is annoying me about this. I have explained it so many times. ha ha..

They do sound similar. But if you play guitar in a band, or in general, it is hard to write something that sounds completely odd and over the top and amazing. You write a song and someone will say, "Wow that sounds like so and so" and "Oh, you riped them off." The thing is with tom Petty's song, it is a very very common rift. You hear it in TUNS of music.

I respect both Petty and the Peppers, and he doesn't seem to have a problem with it, so why are the fans taking it to heart? People, its music, what they don't want is a fight over it. If that's what you want to do, find the Fall Out Boy fans, they love to argue.

The opening of Dani California is the special identical chords because the opening to Last Dance with Mary Jane. I have not heard that he's going to sue, however I listen what he's speakme approximately.

Yes I think so too. It is sad because I love the Chilis. Why did they do that?
