I been using the Nuvaring since July 16th. i took it out around 9pm on August 1,( Didn't have sex until around 2am or so)I wasn't supposed to take it out until August 6 and didn't put it back in at all i'm waiting until my next cycle which is about a week and a few days away. Is this enough time for the ring to be effect alone? Should i put it back in now, the day after?

Do put it back in now, but know that it won't really help you retroactively.

It may help if you had an understanding of how BC works. It works by preventing you from ovulating. There are some other changes with other BCs but the single most reliable and effective way is to make sure you don’t release any eggs. When you take it out prematurely (I can’t imagine why you did this), then you run the risk of releasing an egg in the off time.

Your chances are lower than those of a person who never used BC because you limited (but did not eliminate) the time in which you could have ovulated.

I use the Nuvaring myself. I have also used the patch and depo-provera. In all cases, you must use them as directed to be assured of their effectiveness.

Do put it back in now. and remove it on the 6th as you should have. Good luck.

Can you not read the instructions on how to use Nuvaring? It remains in place until it's time to change it for another. There's no taking it out and putting it back. It remains in place so you can have sex without the concern for pregnancy, that's how it works. It does not protect against STDs. Read the instructions again. You should be worried. Not following the directions means pregnancy!

If you take it out before you're supposed to, you're only supposed to keep it out less than 3hrs or you could get pregnant... Sounds like you've had it out for days, and it sounds like you'd already ovulated.... If i was you I would go to the doctor to get a pregnancy test before I put it back in.....

Aren't there supposed to be instructions for that kinda thing. Taking it out wasn't the smartest thing that you could have done. I wish that I could get laid at 2 in the morning!
