Well, maybe you have a steel line (or old galvanized line that doesn't have any galvanizing left) in the system.

It's the reaction that the water has on the copper pipes. Make sure you flush the toilet and run the basin water a little before you drink the water. That clears out any of the old water.

You may have rust somewhere in your pipes. DON'T drink the water. It may be contaminated!!! Call a plumber to test your water.
