You might read about H.K. Edgerton. Just Google the name - there is plenty to read about him there. He isn't the only one.

there were actually a large number of african americans that were in the confederate army during the civil war, and most major cities in the south have a high number of african americans who populate them. so i would have to say that most of the african americans who live here are very proud to live where the do, it just happens that yankees and those idiots on the west coast view the south as it would still be the 1800's, but remember, there was slavery going on all throughout the u.s. in those times, not just in the south. there were even presidents who had slaves, check the history books. in the south today, most of us get along fine with each other, at least in the younger generations. from what i see it is mostly the midwest and west coast who are having the problems now with racism, the midwest is full of white supremecy groups who carry out acts similar to what people think goes on here. the west coast is having problems now with african americans vs. mexicans. dont believe everything that hollywood portrays, because these are fictitious accounts coming from people who arent from the south or let alone even been here. im not saying that there are african americans walking around waving confederate flags, but at the same time, when was the last time youve heard about anything that can honestly tell you that this kind of stuff still exists here, last i heard it was los angelos where the cops were caught beating the **** out of an african american for no reason.

I've never met one...but I'm sure that some exist. They may not hold the same values or ideas in regards to slavery, but they probably see eye to eye on other major states rights issues. After all the Civil War began because the Union was imposing restrictions on the south that the south felt were unconstitutional (those restrictions just happened to include the slavery of African Americans among other things).
