There is no income tax. There is no tax on essential foods, milk, water, bread, things of that nature. There is a tax free weekend coming up on clothing, this happens once a year for people to go back-to-school shopping.

Texas does not have a state income tax but we pay federal and sales tax same as any other state.

I think what may lead to the confusion is that there may not be a state income tax in Texas. New Hampshire is a state that for sure does not have one.

Yes, there are sale taxes associated with purchases. But, regarding tax time - April 15th - in Texas you only file federal taxes - there is no state tax to file.

Yes, I used to live in Texas, and we paid taxes. Why would you think we wouldn't? We didn't pay taxes on food, however, as long as it was bought fresh in the grocery store. Now I do in TN.

Texas does not have a State Income tax, but a new Franchise Tax law passed for Corps. that is pretty stiff.

no becauces everyone in Texas is in jail or should be. Actually they do not pay state income taxes, but like the rest of us they still have to pay the fed

yes people in texas pay taxes. federal income tax, sales tax, property tax, school tax, city tax, county tax. they do not pay state income tax.
of course if your name is george bush, then most likely you don't pay any taxes in texas at all.
