Not a vampire, but a real Transylvanian ruler Vlad Dracula called Vlad the Impaler because he impaled anyone who did something he didn't like. One story goes that a merchant was staying at his castle one night and had his money stolen. The merchant told Vlad and the money was returned plus one gold coin. The next morning the merchant told Vlad his money had been returned, but there was also an extra coin. Vlad then told the merchant that if he had not mentioned the returned money AND the extra coin, the merchant would have ended the day on a spike.

Bloodthirsty bugger, wasn't he?

Dracula was based on a real person called Vladimir Tepesh (not sure on spelling) he was a transylvanian king(unsure of time period). He was cruel and merciless warrior who put the heads of all those he killed in war or otherwise on spikes or lances outside his castle, this earned him the nickname Vlad the Impaler. Although vicious he was apparently a good ruler but very feared. Think along the lines of Ghengis Khan.

Dracula was written loosely based on a gentleman lovingly called Vlad the Impaler. Vlad was a ruler who would take his victims/subjects and throw them in the dungeon to be impaled as a form of torture. It is very loosely based but inspired, like the old Bloody Mary routine.

Dracula is a fictional character, however, he was based on a real person, Vlad the Impaler, who was a tyrranical ruler in Romania in the middle ages, apparently he used to have fields over looking his castle with rows of people impaled on large spikes. Mabey his mother didnt love him enough haha

Yes, he was a real person, and was a hero to his people and evil to his enemies. His name was Vlad Tepish and his family name was Dracula. He impaled his enemies by the hundreds and left them to rot and warn others not to cross him. Not a real vampire though.
I watch every vampire special that comes on.

He's a real person, The Impaler I believe he was called.Savior to his people but he was called the Impaler because he actually impaled people on sticks or spears sometimes after their heads were cut off.The dracula thing was because there was a rumor that he would drink the blood of his victims after they were killed.Supposedly he was also killed in a battle but arose from the dead after. So I dont think he was out sucking blood for real.
