The yearly South by Southwest (SXSW) convention, live music in almost every bar, and some really, really good, unsigned bands of every genre. (Not just country or blues)
They even have special parking for musicians loading/unloading equipment in front of venues on 6th st.
...and I'm not even from Austin - I live in San Diego, CA!
