wow there r some dumb people answering this. someone said u should take peyton (DON'T!!!) someone else said take Gates (HE'S A FREAKIN TIGHT END SHOULDN'T GO TIL 4 or 5th round) and someone else said they took vick (just walk off a cliff). Peyton shouldn't go til late first round in a 10 or 12 team draft. Definetly take LJ or Shaun Alexander.
A good RB always beats a good QB

dude - maybe you shouldn't be playing fantasy football...
6 bye weeks? what on earth are you talking about? every NFL team has ONE by week.
Back to your question - how many teams in your league and what position are you drafting.
Peyton could go at the end of the first round (#11-12 or so) in a 12-team draft. Otherwise, take a RB.
If you're sitting at #1 and take Manning you have effectively killed your draft. RB is the most important position in fantasy.
#1 - LJ #2 Shaun #3 LT

Peyton is far and away the best QB. There are many RBs that you could take with your second pick and not loose too much ground. 7 of the top 10 picks are RBs. If you can't get Peyton, pick the best RB and then draft Brady. Those are your only sure things.
Where in the heck did you come up with the 6 bye week notion? Better do a little more homework.

No. Though there are quite a few studly RBs this year, you should still pick the most dependable, highest upside RB. Frankly, Peyton has some question marks. Edge is gone, Harrison's getting a bit old, and there is always the chance of injury, especially with a tall white guy who will be standing upright and throwing a lot and hasn't been injured yet (it's more superstition than anything, but almost all players get injured at some point or other).
Go with a RB.

The most used method I've personally seen yearly is:
round 1: RB
round 2: RB
round 3: WR
round 4: QB
round 5: TE
and so on...
if you have the #1 pick of the draft, go with a RB like Shaun Alexander, Larry Johnson, Ladainian Tomlinson, Tiki Barber, or Edgerrin James.
Personally, I like LJ, LT, or Edge. LJ because he was amazing last year, eventhough there are some question marks about this year's O-Line. LT because he's the Charger's biggest offensive weapon next to Antonio Gates, and Edge because he gets to run against the shitty defenses of the NFC West - although, this would bolster Shaun Alexander's case more than Edge's.

I would wait on a QB unless you really want Rodgers. I would grab the best RB and WR left on that second in third pick.. In my 12 team draft last night, there were a lot of solid qbs around in rounds 4 and 5 like Phillip Rivers, Tony Romo, and Ben Roethlisberger. I'd say grab a WR with the 2nd pick, Steve Smith maybe, and then with the 3rd pick maybe a Steve Slaton caliber RB. You'd have a nice core right there, then see how the 4th round goes, if there's a rush on qbs grab one, or wait till the 5th.

I did a whole bunch of research on Fantasy Football for my team and almost every NFL fantasy expert says pick a RB first. In most leagues running TD's give you 6 points and passing TD's only give you 3.

I would choose Shaun Alexander or LaDamian Tomlinson. Peyton is likely the 5th or 6th highest ranked player on any fantasy draft board.
