I know it is different in every state, but what is the maximum sentence in most places?

Lets say it was an appartment building made unlivable and 3 people were killed.

It depends on the value of what you burn up and whether you kill anybody or not in the fire. depending on the circumstances, in Nebraska, you can get slap on the wrist to the death penalty.
maximum for felony arson (burning something worth more than $100.00 is five years.
Now is this this just idle curiosity or what have you got planned.

Three dead people--In Nebraska the perp will surely fry. We are the last state to still be using the electric chair. I don't like it but people here are mightily resistant to change.

Minimum really depends on the state.

Oregon is 90 months minimum.
