Sounds like he still wants Mommy to be there during feeding time. Maybe he's not ready to be that independent yet. I know a lot of babies who just love the contact during feeding. He'll hold the bottle when he's ready... but it sounds like he still loves mommy's cuddles while eating too.

It's a boy thing. I have a 12 month old at home and he didn't start holding his own bottle till between 9 and 10 months. Now he's on a sippy cup and doesn't want the bottle. Just keep trying to get him to hold his own bottle. He will get it eventually.
Good Luck!!!!

I disagree with the boy thing, my son was holding his own bottle by 3-4 months and on a sippy cup at 6 months, off the bottle by 9 months.
I would take his hands and hold them to the bottle when he was a newborn, and did that every time and so would his babysitter
He was used to having his hands on his bottle.

Some kids do and some don't. A family friend has a son who is 9 months older than my son. He never held his bottle. So, his mom or dad held it for him. My son was nursed until he was 2 1/2 and so he learned to hold a sippy cup, not a bottle.

The only way I could get my son to hold his own bottle was to lay him on the floor (between 7-8 months). Strange, yes. When I held him, he wouldn't hold his bottle. When he sat in his carseat, he wouldn't hold his bottle. But once I put him on the floor, and gave him his bottle, he grabbed right on. The only thing you have to be careful about is feeding your baby while they are flat on the floor...they could end up getting fluid in their ears, causing an ear infection. Prop them up with a Boppy or pillow, and just keep at it. Once my son turned 11 months, he stopped the bottle completely. He's 15 months, and does very well with his sippy cups. He's even ventured into drinking out of a "big boy cup" (just a regular tumbler). Good luck to you!

Hold his bottle, but take small breaks and do something with your bottle hand like scratch or work your mouse, letting the bottle rest with the nipple in his mouth, when he starts to fuss tip the bottle up again. He will get tired of not getting anything and figure out what needs to be done. I have taught a 4 m/o to hold his own bottle this way. also the bottles with bags do not have to be tipped I have never used one, but I do use a feeder.

I have been babysitting since i was 13(i am almost 18 now). Right now i babysit a neighbors baby and he is 6 months old. He has been holding his bottle since he was 4 1/2 months old. I babysit my nephew who is 3 now- but when he was an infant he started holding his bottle at 7 months. Talk to your doctor if you are worried. But all babies develop differently so i wouldnt worry too much!

Dont give in to him put the bottle there and he will eventually hold it as long as you dont hold it for him. Dont let him have his way. He is being lazy. Show him you wont hold the bottle for him. Put it in his mouth and just let the bottle sit there he will et tired of you not holding it for him and he will wind up holding it on his own.
Just give it time and be patient/

"and im so under pressure over this" ....Why precisely? "I truly have maximum of people asserting that he's a assistance on the thank you to previous to no longer be conserving his bottle "...they are idiots. My son on no account held his very own bottle. no longer through fact he "could no longer", yet on condition that became our time mutually and he continuously cuddled in my lap for a bottle and that i held it for him. He became additionally off the bottle a week till now his first birthday. We merely tossed them interior the trash and exceeded him a cup. He had no situation with it.

Can't help but LOL at the boy thing. Sometimes boys are slower at doing things than girls. What's the big hurry, really? They're only small for a short time. The more you give him of yourself now, the less he'll demand from you later.
