Depends on who's giving the advice, how much in their life they've experienced, and how the advice is given. I am more bound to listen to my dad's advice (who is very wise, and is always spoken in a calming manner) or my aunt-in-law (who, although isn't very wise, has experienced much and is very caring), than I am my step-mom (who is very caring, and speaks from the heart, but isn't always what's best in the long run), grandfather (who has experienced much, but generally ignores the advice of his family), or mom-in-law (who is sarcastic/degrading when giving it, no matter how wise it might be).

With my dad and aunt-in-law, I will almost always take their advice, even if it's against my own judgement. The others, I occasionally will, if it suits the situation.

The one person, though, whose advice I will always follow, is that of my husband's. As we complement each other so well, he sees that which escapes me, and I see that which escapes him.
