I get this same kind of pressure and sharp tearing sensation in my crotch, too, towards the end of my pregnancies. I am 36 weeks now with my third baby.
Although it feels alarming, it is just caused by your baby's head pushing hard against your pelvic floor which is a very sensitive area. It could be you have dilated more, which will give you something of an advantage when true labor begins.
Hang in there! It won't be long now.

I am in the same boat as you i don't think i effaced that much but on Friday i had my exam and am dilated to 1 and lost my plug and have dropped. I feel lots of pressure when ever i stand up.. The doc said it was because the baby has dropped. I just hope staying active and cleaning and walking helps to make me more dilated on Friday at my next appointment.. I am so rdy!!!!!

You are likely feeling extreme pressure from the baby's head against your bladder. I experienced this with my pregnancies at the end. Just remember, this too, shall pass!!! You did the right thing and got checked for an infection. You may even need to be catheterized once in labor if baby is preventing your bladder from being fully emptied. This happens. Not much longer to go. Hang on!!!

Sounds like you're in labor. How many weeks are you? Call your doctor and talk to him/her right away.
