Aren't we lazy enough as a species without having someone saving us from everything on top of it.

No. I don't think a Superman saving everyone would be a good thing. I believe the strong should protect the weak. The rich should protect the poor, etc, etc. But the strong shouldn't go around protecting the strong.
If someone was in trouble and needed help, I would agree that they should be aided. If you're walking in some mountains with a group of people and one person is suffering from dehydration, you'd want to help that person if you had some spare water. Some people would actually not share their water with the suffering person. Some people would gang up and only share their rations with so called 'allies' - even when others are obviously suffering. This to my mind is wrong and is a very good example of how capitalism works: build up our riches and stamp on those who don't have any.
I have seen dehydrated people refuse help from people with more water because they feel they're being patronized or something. This is unfortunate. The basic principle I stick by is that the strong should protect the weak. It's a shame that many others don't agree with this principle.

How could it NOT be a good thing??? We NEED a little hope from a higher power in this world today. god does NOT step down from his throne anymore and perform miracles in the middle of Pennsylvania Avenue. Superman WOULD. A concrete symbol of hope is what the world needs. Someone who cannot be bought or corrupted, who HAS the power to stop the wars, end poverty, protect the weak and the innocent. I only wish he was really out there somewhere......:(

On the surface it would be a great thing.
But the long term reprimands would not be very good at all. People would become too dependent on a hero to save them that they forget to save themselves. People would take stupid risks because they could, and then we have the age old Yin Yang syndrome:
Where there is good, there is evil. You will have idiots trying to be super villains who would hurt more people then a bus full of Islamic extremists with a ton of dynamite and hyped up on enough Red Bull to wake the dead.
Eventually, evil would win...and the hero would fall. What then?

A real life Superman that saves everyone and performs miracles would definitely be a good thing.

Bad thing by saving everyone the world would quickly become over-populated resulting in a huge increase in green house gases, poverty, disease and overall lead to a decrease in the standard of living.

I don´t think it would be a good thing. We have to fight our own battles. It is like your father sticking up for you when you were young. Now you are older you can defend yourself. This is something that we must learn and we must do. Otherwise people would just stand outside of somewhere and yell superman.

Where would he draw the line? on what is good or bad. if he were true then we would get lazy and just sit back and let him get on with it, but then you would have the ones who would find in a challenge to beat him, and we would suffer more. The greater the savour the greater the enemy
