IMHO Doug was incredible nice about this, the ball was his...I have never-ever heard of a team laying claim to a baseball that a player hit-caught...

Mientkiewicz even said in an interview that if the Red Sox had just ask , "Doug that ball has great historical importance to the Red Sox and their fans and we would really appreciate being able to share it with our fans"...Instead the Red Sox tried to bully him through their lawyers...

I would say Doug's actions bare out what he said, he probable could have fought this all the way through the courts and won. Instead he worked out a deal, the Red Sox get the ball for 1 year then it goes to the HOF...

Coming to KC was probable a good career move. Not many ML teams are looking for 1B who hit .283 - SLG% of .411 with 4HR and 43RBI's....And where else could he play in a double-play combination like Graffanino to Grudzielanek to Mientkiewicz - just kind of rolls off the tongue doesn't it...LOL...

More importantly, where can I find the last ball that was used in the world series the last time the Marlins won it all? How about the ball that the Arizona Diamondbacks worship since it was the only thing that actually proves that they did, in fact once have a major league baseball team in the National League West.

There is no more debate on this ball, Mientkiewicz finally turned the ball in and it's now in the Baseball Hall of Fame, which was the worse move, him doing this, or signing with the Royals?

It is currently in the Baseball Hall of Fame. I doubt you'd be able to find information about it on mlb.com, because I think the Red Sox knew they were being alittle harsh bullying him around with their lawyers. But, it IS an important piece of history. Perhaps if you research the Hall of Fame they will haveinfo there.

In reality, the home team (the St Louis Cardinals) were the rightful owner of the baseball.
