Put one of those hard shell baby pools in your living room, and fill it with ice and beer cans. Now that's cool!

Go to the store and buy a fan. Also, wet washcloths kept in the freezer and placed on the back of the neck feel great in the heat. Take a cool (NOT hot) shower. It will cool you off and you won't have as much of a shock than if you took a cold shower. Drink plenty of cold fluids. Open up all of your windows to entice a breeze to enter. You may want to spend the afternoon in an air conditioned mall to stay cool.

Step in the shower or bath and get wet with cold water. Keep your head wet until the sun goes down. Lay down on the floor next to an open window away from the direction the sun is shining from. And turn off the computer. It creates heat.

Run cold water over your inside wrists.
Set a bowl of ice or cold water in front of a moving fan.You may be able to get one for free at your local FreeCycle group. Check it out on line. Lot's of free stuff to peruse & take your mind of the heat.
Dampen your clothing.
Use a wet washcloth on your forehead. Move it often to help release heat.
Put your feet in a basin of cool (not cold) water.
Lie on the floor, preferably hard surfaced.
Be lazy. When the temperature soars, sit.
Wear loose, light - colored, cotton clothing.
Drink water, and plenty of it. It's cheap preventative medicine.
Avoid caffeine, alcohol and stress.
Eat light, as in fruits and raw vegetables. Go easy on protein; it increases your body's heat production.
Daydream - snowstorm, cool rain, the North Pole. Sounds silly but, mind over matter works.Cheap relief!
No pool? Again, check out FreeCycle and get a kiddy pool. Put it in a shady spot.
Hope this helps. If it's any comfort, it's hotter than Hades here in Texas TOO!!!

Dress as minimally as you reasonably can, put on some reggae or calypso music, and slow down as you go about your chores. Take breaks to spritz yourself down with a mixture of water and rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle(with a little cologne in it if you like). Keep a wet washcloth in the refrigerator and wipe yourself down every once in awhile. Keep the drapes closed on the side of your home where the sun comes in, and open windows on the shady side. Pretend you are in a ritzy tropical vacation spot. Drink lots of water, with a squeeze of lime in it if you have it.
Even people who live in warm climates (like I do) eventually reach a point where it's too hot to do anything. At that point, go to the mall and enjoy the free A/C.

Get naked, take a shower, keep drinking a lot of water or eat fruits (especially water melon), put some water on yourself. Stay away from the sun, and try to breath.

Get out of the house, or open up as many windows as you possibly can to get a cross breeze going. Aso, take a shower with lukewarm water.

Cheap fix is to get a spray bottle of water and spray yourself and fan your self using a hand fan. Cool bats are nice but you can't stay in the tub all day, eh?
