Look in the local papers under accommodation there are usually people advertising for house mates especially if your town is large. You could also place an ad yourself. good luck and consider moving to a new area to make a new start it can be exiting as well as hard but make sure you keep in touch with friends so as they know you are safe and well.
Look on the website below it has places all over the UK

What's your real question? I'm not familiar with the ways of England, but in USA, most apartment complexes have an office. You pay your rent at the office. If you live in someone's house, you know their mailing address and you send your rent to them.

Just look in the newspaper for "roommate wanted" or "room for rent" ads. When rent is due you just write whoever owns/rents the place a check.

newspapers usually have advertisements for rooms in shared houses, or you can do a search on the web for property to rent in your area and look under lodgings or shared accomodation.

it may help if you advertise in ur local paper under personals but remember to put ur prefered house-mates. i.e. male, female or family. some estate agents have lists of people looking for lodgers to help with bills so pop into ur local one and ask.
