THE BOSTON RED SOX!!!!!!!!!!!!

2006-08-02 08:40:16 · answer #1 · answered by Anonymous · 2 4

Yankees are better. They're in first place despite having Matsui and Sheffield out for most of the season. They have 3 11+ game winners in Mussina, Johnson and Wang. Yankees have a better bullpen. Rivera is the best closer in the history of the game-period. Melky has been great for the Yankees in left field. Abreu was a big pick up. The Red Sox made zero moves at the trade deadline. Their captain, Varitek, is out for 4-6 weeks. Yankees will win the season series against Boston and win the division. Yankees also have 26 World Series Championships to 6 for Boston.

Strictly by the numbers, the Red Sox have the better team.

However, after everything that's happened to the Yankees, just being in the race is proof enough who the better team is. The Yanks are my pick to win the East this year.

The Yankees right now even the Gary and Hideki are out the Sox have Wakefield, Varitek, and now lowe out plus the yankees just got Abreu they'll win the division and the white sox will win the wild card so the red sox won't even make playoffs

As currently constituted, about even.
The key factor will be who gets the injured players back first and how the fill-ins do in their place. The loss of Nixon, no big deal. The loss of Varitek could kill the Sox season. Somehow the Yankees held together after the loss of Matsui & Sheffield, now with Abreu, they seem to have the better lineup.

So for right now... Even

Comaprison Chart:
1B - Youkilis / Phillips : Youkilis
2B - Loretta / Cairo : Loretta (Cano's return makes this about even)
3B - Lowell / A-Rod : A-Rod
SS - Gonzales / Jeter : Jeter
LF - Ramirez / Williams : Ramirez
CF - Damon / Crisp : Damon
RF - Abreu / Pena : Abreu (But not by a landslide)

SP - Schilling, Beckett, Lester, Wells, Johnson / Johnson, Mussina, Wang, Wright, Lidle : Barely Boston (Yankee fans, don't think too much of Lidle... he's about even with Jason Johnson)

RP - Not gonna name 'em all but : Boston

Closer - Even

There you have it....

The Yankees hands down! Lets all remember how long it took Boston to win a World Series. The Yanks have won how many World Series titles? But to be completely honest, everyone get ready for another Subway Series cuz here come the Mets baby!

Okay... people let me have it... come on...

Don't get me wrong... I don't like the Yankees, but I don't hate them either... same with the Red Sox... I'm a... a... Phillies fan... yeah... I know... I like a team that sucks...

The Red Sox are clearly better people and the better team. This will be proven when they play each other down the stretch.
