I have been working for several years with students with low archivement in schools, but i'm not happy with the results i'm getting, i need ideas, those gruops are formed with students who flunked a subject like math, physics, chemistry,....... need ideas of how i can work with them and not only help them pass the course, also retain that info, and improve their studing habits...

People identify visually typically. Try to make it more interactive. Relate an idea or concept to common ongoing happening things. Have plenty of visuals. People will not remember seeing a graph, but they will remember that you compared apples to oranges. Have humility. Those kinds just really want to feel that they are smart. Give them the opportunity to feel that, even if it means making a few feeble mistakes that you know they would pick up. Even for one of them to correct you, and spark a conversation and discussion. The kids won't gang up on you, but they will correct you. This always gets their attention. Cause then they are paying attention for mistakes. They don't reallize it but they are absorbing information. They are learning.
Another thing you can do is humor. Think about it. In many of our parts of life laughter makes things better. A funny movie changes our mood. Keeps us awake. Humor and laughter is a great way to grap attention. This also keeps them more attentive, and often forces interaction. Communication is the key here. Finding out how you can communicate to them.
