the answer to this question is fairly simple... first it's gonna require you to take a little more time off, but hopefully not to long. you need to get healed first. make sure that for about two or three times a day you ice then heat, and repeat. the next thing i would do is go buy a new pair of shoes. go to an actual running store to buy your shoes. they will fit you to a shoe that best suits the way you run. they will also look at your feet to help them in determining a shoe for you. this way they can get you a shoe that will support what ever needs supporting. this may be a little expensive, but it's worth it. my shoes usually cost me about 108 dollars before i get my school discount. lastly, make sure you stretch your shins before you run. sit on the ground and place one heel on the ground and pull your toes back towards you will taking the other heel and pushing on the foot that ur trying to pull back. this is a good shin stretch. just remember let your shins heal first or you wont get rid of them. you don't need to quit running completely, just cut way back on running and ice and heat a lot. anymore questions just email me....williamjhuddleston@yahoo.com

The individual above me is correct; sneakers make a enormous change. If you presently have shin splints, the great factor you'll do is leisure (and sure, it sucks). If you run in tired sneakers you broaden your probabilities of having shin splints, and due to the fact you run a rather big quantity of miles every week in pass nation, exchanging your sneakers is major. I advise icing them and resting for a whilst, and I comprehend it isn't any bueno to take a holiday from walking, however what are you able to do? You ought to allow them to heal. Time is quite your most effective resolution. When you pass on holiday, leisure up and permit your shins heal w/ ice. You may not lose a lot conditioning in any respect till after a two week interval, so take a look at to not get too paranoid approximately it like I do. Good success and comfortable walking!

You can't get rid of them. All you can do is take Tylenol before running, and ice your shins. Try this: freeze water in paper cups. After the water has frozen, then you just ice your shins with it, peeling the paper cup off the ice as you go. You may already do this, but if not you can try it. There are also braces that go around your shins/calves that you can buy...I don't know if they would help because of all the running your doing, but I've seen basketball players use them. Good luck!

well they all told you how to get rid of them, but to prevent them from ever happening again, you should do like 100 calf raises and 100 toe raises like twice a week. it strengthens them, so they'll be basically immune to shin splints. i've only had them once, and i started this and it is a great workout!
