People have engaged in cannabalisim for survival ala the Donner party and the Chiliean soccer team whose plane crashed in the Andies Mountains, alledgedly in North Korea because of famine. throughout history.

When cannibalisim is combined with sexual pleasure or killing for pleasure it becomes pathological.

I think most people would have an aversion to eating human flesh but would eat it in a heartbeat if it meant their survival.

I have read that some tribes who were cannibals described human flesh as tasting like pork-hence they called humans - "long pig" Sometimes the result of eating human flesh can be "kuru" which is akin to Mad Cow Disease.

And how about the ultimate in recycling in the move "Soylent Green" after the oceans died the government started feed the masses something called "soylent green"
"Its people! Soylent green is people! is a famous line from that movie spoken by either Edward G. Robinson or Charlton Heston.

cannibalism had been ill rated by the public for far too long. I think that it is somewhat sexist to be a cannibal. I do not think its gross, in fact, it actually brings you closer to the person you eat. They become one with u... forever. The Aztecs believe that in order to be close to your love ones, u should sacrifice and eat them and then they will be with u forever. I think human meat taste better than even chicken. That is why for many, once they go human.. there's no going back. And human loves human meat, as evidence from the news of famous dumplings in china that's been sold like hot cakes.. later to be known that it was made out of human buttocks. Same goes to during the WWII when ppl are out of food, they feed on soldiers and claim that it taste real good. I personally think so too.. Ppl have long thought its not right to eat human, but they eat every other creature in this world. Any pity for them? Nope. Some human acts worse than these creatures, so why must there be treated better. Besides, i think devouring the bodies of those that die willingly for your consumption is not wrong or evil.. they want to be sacrificed willingly and for the dead ones.. if we dont eat them.. they'll be eaten by the bugs anyway. Human body is rich with vitamins and many other things as we eat everything.. and that is why it taste so good. There are many ppl out there who's willing to be cannibalised upon.. to be one with those who are willing to accept. What makes it wrong is not those who accept.. but those who cannot accept other ppl's desires even when both sides are willing to give it a go.. Human have been cannibalising since the beginning of time.. and it will be many many years more before this could ever end.

Well there are three distinct types of cannibalism and I have different opinions depending on the one you are talking about.

Survival Cannibalism -This is where you are stranded somewhere and have to eat your fellow castaways in order to survive. I not for this, but I'm not against it either because I can't say I wouldn't do the same thing if I were in that situation. Could you?

Ritual Cannibalism - This is the most famous type of cannibalism where savage jungle tribes consume captives. I'm more against this one, but I think it can be justified too. I'm for it simply because I don't have any right to criticize other cultures. But I'm against it because its inhumane and has been known to cause rare diseases.

Sadistic Cannibalism - This is the typical psychopathic killer cannibalism like Jeffery Dahmer. I'm 100% against this one. There is no good excuse or redemptive quality for this.

(FYI: In some African Villages, don't order the "long pig" unless you are into that sort of thing.....)

there is a obvious taboo attached to this perhaps we are the only creature capable of understanding that we are eating our own species if we are eating a human also humans share empathy more than some other animals it may not seem like it some times but we do feel that we should help other people and not to harm them therefore eating someone would be horrible because we can visualise this persons life and family etc. interestingly humans are only so efficient at killing because our technology enables us to do so from a distance i.e. guns if in every war enemies had to be killed through hand to hand combat the soldiers would find it hard to distance themselves and perhaps killing would become very hard and hopefully impossible after a time

From a purely objective standpoint, there is nothing wrong with cannabalism. It is just eating in order to survive.

In and of itself there is NOTHING wrong with cannabalism.

It all depends on what culture you are raised in.

There are some pacific islanders who cremate their dead. After, they gather the ashes and mix them in a drink which all living relatives share - they believe that in this way the dead continueto live onthrough them.

There are also MANY cases of "civilized" man eating their dead. From the soccer team that crashed in the alps, to the crew of the ship that spawned the book Moby dick, to the Donner party.

Yet, our soceity accepts those acts because they were for survival. What does that tell you?

Our culture says it is bad, but does that make it so?

The biggest problem with cannabalism is that generally, people are murdered to provide the meat.

As far as I know, the act of cannabalism itself is NOT illegel, what is illegel is most of the ways of getting the meat.

Just remember, there are whole societies that practice cannabalism, to them it is normal - and don't just say that they are "uncivilized". Remebmer, there are many things in our culture that others consider "uncivilized"

this is been suggested that the only modern taboos are incest and cannibalism. although, cannibalism is practiced in numerous factors of the international. while the fall of communism got here approximately in Russia, human beings have been ravenous, and cannibalism grew to grow to be a difficulty. customarily, human beings do it out of necessity (as interior the soccer team that became lost interior the Andes interior the '80s, and, as suggested, the Donner celebration); some human beings do it through fact they are twisted (Dahmer and others), yet in some societies that have, as yet, been incredibly untouched by different cultures, cannibalism is practiced as element of way of life. Robert Louis Stevenson (Treasure Island) wrote a great deal approximately cannibalism because it became practiced in Samoa, the place he lived element of his life. The cooked human became talked approximately as "long pig" and the community could celebration to consume that guy or woman. It wasn't a many times occurring ingredient, yet many times element of a few ritual or party. the consequence of ingesting human flesh is fairly comparable to what a "mad cow reviews"--human beings ultimately pass nuts, lose administration of their annoying structures etc.

well synthetic meat made in a laboratory has already been done, and in maybe 10 to 20 years synthetic meat may be in the market. That way you can eat human without having to kill someone.

depends how hungry i was.
i have friends who are vegetarians and i wonder, if they got hungry enough, would they eat human flesh if there was nothing else?
of course, one can't really answer that question until one is in that situation because it would be really extreme. but, as for me, i'm not a big fan of beef, either. i'll eat it if it is spiced really well. and then there are cultures that eat dog and monkey and things like that...and i would put those right up there with my non-desire to eat human flesh as a regular thing. it's all a matter of taste, i guess. you could think of it as recycling, i suppose! eek

I think that it's abnormal, but that does not make it wrong. Our society in the U.S. considers is deviant because it's not the norm. If I had grown up in a cannibalistic society it would be normal. It's a different culture....period.

If a culture eats it's own that's just their way of life.
